Apoquel Tablets For Dogs

What is Apoquel?
Apoquel is used to relieve itching and inflammation caused by allergic skin diseases (atopy, atopic dermatitis) in dogs. The active ingredient is oclacitinib.

Who is it for?
Apoquel is labeled for use in dogs at least 12 months of age.

How does Apoquel work?
Apoquel is a selective Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor. It selectively inhibits JAK-1 and JAK-3-dependent cytokines involved in allergy, inflammation, and pruritus. Apoquel controls itching and inflammation associated with allergic skin disease in dogs. Apoquel is not a steroid or an antihistamine.

How is it given?
Give this medication with or without food. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. If you have difficulty giving the medication, contact your veterinarian. This medication should only be given to the pet for whom it was prescribed.

Starts to relieve itching within 4 hours. Effectively controls itching within 24 hours.

What should I do if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, give it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to the regular schedule. Do not give two doses at once.

What is the most important information I should know?
Be sure to inform your veterinarian of any vitamins, supplements, or medications your pet may be receiving.

Who should not take it?
Not for use in animals hypersensitive (allergic) to oclacitinib.

Not for use in dogs under 12 months of age, or weighing less than 6.6 lbs.

Not for use in breeding, pregnant or lactating dogs.

Apoquel is not labeled for use in cats.

What side effects may be seen when taking Apoquel?
The most common side effects are vomiting, and diarrhea. Other possible side effects include anorexia and lethargy. Contact your veterinarian if you notice any of these signs.

How is it stored?
Store at controlled room temperature between 68°and 77°F. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
